I was trying to install a photo editor in order to get
pictures off a digital camera when the installation
froze, now it has caused an initialisation error in
windows\system32\Nvcp.dll this happens every time i
reboot my machine and it also seems to have screwed up my
graphics its as if it is running in a sort of "safe mode"

Thanks

Try booting safemode and then use system restore.
