I'm having two "System Volume Information" folders

Hi World,

I'm having two folders on my XP system with System Volume Information.

The first:
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{4BCE3F....}
is 86,8 Mb in size.

The second:
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{CB061807...}
is 22.897,3 Mb in size

Using the appropriate XP features, I have been able to reduce the first
file in size, thus liberating some 20 Mb of free space. I'm now having
only one restorepoint in XP. That's exactly what I want.

The second folders has not been touched during this process. My
question is, can I safely erase this folder and free another +20Mb of
space?
I assume that this folder contains the MS remains of an earlier XP
installation. I have not erased my C-drive when re-installing XP.

Many thanks for helping me out.

Yes you can delete the one you dont need. You might be better of turning
system restore off, deleting the folders then turning system restore back
on. That way you are not likely to break it. Turning it off will delete all
restore points and turning it on will create one new one. You might need to
take ownership of the folder to delete them.

i followed your suggestions. Turning off & turning on restore points
reduced the size of the folder and i erased the folder I didn't need.

many thanx

A matter of being polite, I think.
Be aware, you have made a European citizen very happy and also helped the
Dutch Diskspace Liberation Squad
