Illegal pop ups

When online I get a message appearing saying: 'Registry
editing has been disabled by the administrator', as soon
as I click OK to clear the message, pop-up web ad
appears, usually for a porn site. I've tried to change
various security settings, but to no avail.

Any ideas, anyone??
