The MS-MVP guys here will probably require more info than that. You should
say which Windows version, Service Packs, Updates, Anti-Virus subscription,
Firewall, local Network if on one, running as Admin or User, any non-standard
software, when this first occurred, what you've done about it so far, and
anything else you can think of that may be helpful.

Until you feel like including the information Alan suggested, try this:

Yup.

My first guess - and it'd be a guess - would be malware, BHO, type stuff...

So, assuming the OP gives more info that'd be where I'd head for resolving
it. Perhaps something so simple as a misconfigured/poorly coded BHO is the
culprit, benign but problematic none the less. Perhaps malware infestations
rule the PC, or is that rue the PC? Perhaps a simple file has gone corrupt
and a repair installation of IE is all that is required?

Maybe try http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm (althought the problems
it seems ti fix isn't the one you mentioned - it may be still worth a
try) - "IEFix - is a general purpose repair utility for Internet
Explorer which repairs Internet Explorer by registering it's core DLL
files and reinstalls using the IE.INF file. More Information is given
below. Suitable for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP systems."

It's freeware.

Yikes, tell the OP not me.
