IIS question

Dear all

I am new to IIS, so I would like to apologise if this is
too basic a question to be posted. I am more used to PWS
and its Home directory. In PWS you select the home
directory, the name of the startup file normally
default.htm and determined whether the virtual directory
should run scripts, etc.

In IIS I see the same things but not where I can test on a
solo server machine (Windows 2000 Server with IIS 6) my
web pages with database access. I would just like to set
up my home page htm or asp to test my database drive web
sites. Is this possible? Where can I find an article that
describes in Plain English without knowing all the ‘bells
and whistles’.

Thanks again

Kagsy

Could you rephrase your question? I was with you until

"not where I can test on a
solo server machine (Windows 2000 Server with IIS 6) my
web pages with database access. I would just like to set
up my home page htm or asp to test my database drive web
sites. "

You're looking for where to set the default document? On the documents tab.
You can have multiple defaults and IIS will return the first one it finds in
the order you specify.

Also, you have IIS 5. Windows 2000 has IIS 5; Windows 2003 has IIS 6.
