Greetings:
- I have iis.dll installed on my Windows XP Home
Edition. This is the info I am working on to test a
FUNCTIONING WEB SERVER. I Quote the instructions:

"... make sure IIS is installed and running on your
system. The way to do this is to look for the C:\Inetpub
folder. If it doesn't exist, IIS is probably not
installed on your system.

To install IIS on Windows 2000 and XP Professional:
In Windows 2000, choose Start > Settings > Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs; in Windows XP, choose Start >
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
Choose Add/Remove Windows Components.
Select the IIS box and follow the installation
instructions.

Q1: Since I have iis.dll installed, why can I not find
the -- C:\Inetpub folder? --

Q2: I can do Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs BUT
where is WINDOWS COMPONETS? I don't see anything like
that.

Thanks for your help.

IIS is not included with and does not work with XP Home. You could use a
web server like Apache which will work with XP Home.

Greetings Bob:

- Thanks for the quick reply! I'm impressed! I'll look
into Apache. [That was listed under Macintosh web server
help.]

Q: IF I have iis.dll installed, why does it not give me
a Functioning Web Server?

Thanks.

There is so much more to IIS than iis.dll, whatever that is.
