IIS continual shut downs

I run a webbased database and the users are continually
getting knocked off and the IIS has to be reset and web
service turned back on in order to get the application
back up and running. The server runs Norton Anti-virus
and seems there is a possibility that as a virus trys to
invade the server this causes the dumping of the IIS, is
there a setting that can be made to avoid loosing
connection and any ideas on what could be causing this
problem?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Is it shutting down? If so you ought to see that in the Event Viewer. What happens if you immediately go to Web Publishing Service in the Services applet off the Administrator Tools off the Control Panel righ-click and choose restart?
