IIS 5.1 + domain authentication?

Hello,

how do I enable authentication, so that a IIS server running on winxp can
use Domain accounts to authenticate users?
Integrated authentication works fine, and so do local accounts, but not the
domain accounts. I got it working when I enabled basic authentication, but
that's not safe right? So is there a safer way to get this working?

The XP is joined to the domain and running sp2. The domain is at w2003
forest/domain functional level.

Is Internet Explorer configured to use integrated authentication on the
client computer? You can go to tools/internet options/advance and look at
the setting for enable integrated Windows authentication. Basic
authentication is fine if SSL is being used or if ipsec is being used and
the server is an internal web server for domain users. --- Steve

So there's no other way to use domain accounts/password when logging on to
the website, than using basic authentication?
Guess i need to learn how to make SSL connections then :)

I have used them all on server version of IIS but I don't know if there is a
problem with limits for XP Pro IIS or a misconfiguration problem. I suggest
that you also post in the IIS.security newsgroup and check the logs via
Event Viewer to see if anything related is reported at the failed logon
attempts that may help solve the problem. But like I said be sure that the
user attempting to access has his IE configured to use integrated
authentication. --- Steve
