Ignore blank lines in mail merge

I am creating labels from an excel spreadsheet and not all of my cells have
data in them. In older versions of word you used to be able to 'ignore blank
lines' from the spreadsheet. How do I do this in Microsoft Word 2007?

This is a down-and-dirty work-around. I think the MailMerge function in Word
2007 is very complicated (especially compared to the MailMerge function in
Word 2000) so I use the old MailMerge Helper (from earlier versions of Word)
that you can add to your Quick Access Toolbar by customizing it. "Ignore
blank lines" is one of the settings in the MailMerge Helper. Will that help
you??

By default, the "ignore blank lines" setting is enabled in Word 2007.

However, this option does not always work the same way as it did in
older versions of Word, e.g. if your fields are nested in another field
such as an IF field.

Are you using an ADDRESSBLOCK field to insert the address for each
lable, or individual { MERGEFiELD } fields?

Thanks for your response, I have tried using both but neither work and used
individual { MERGEFiELD } fields.

what are the IF fields?

I think I need training on Word 2007, rediculously confusing!

Thanks for your response, I have done as you say but for some reason the
blank lines are still showing.... grrr!

I am lost with this!

I think you would know if you had an IF field in there! It's just a
field that lets you do stuff like

{ IF "{ MERGEFIELD Country } <> "my country" "{ MERGEFIELD country }" "" }

i.e. if the country isn't "my country", insert the country.
