If you have an issue with Windows Defender

I found out why it is its because im use to downloading things real quick but
it takes about 10 min for it to finish downloading and im used to havin a bar
tellin me what its doing but it doesnt tell you how far it got or anything so
i didnt no if it had started or not which it has.

Urgent Windows defender detects Qoologic but cannot completely remove it. It
says to finish removal reboot but its still there. Win XP Pro SP2.

Have you tried in safe mode? Update both Defender and your antivirus
application, then restart Windows in safe mode, and scan with both the
antivirus and WIndows Defender.

I have the same Problem

I'm running XP Pro version 2002 SP2 and am also behind an office firewall.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This worked for me

I have XP pro SP2 and recieved an error when attempint to install and update Windows Defender beta 2:

windows defender was unable to complete the update 0x8024400e

I found a KB article and ran this command start->run

Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}

It will prompt "do you really want to remove signatures?"

I responded yes.

I then did a windows update via IE and it showed a signature update for windows defender. I selected it and installed the update.

Windows Defender beta 2 now works with no errors.
