If you buy Ati - forget the Home Theatre.

I have posted my Digital Rights problems to several newsgroups.

I have had many replies, thank you.

Ati is the only manufacturer that has video cards which will not record
from a dishnet satellite.

Smart shoppers who purchsased other hardware/software home theater
packages are happily using their cards in a home theater setup.

I made the mistake of buying Canadian, and my card is useless.. unless
I want to record my own personl video, or local rabbit ear stations.

The problems I've had with this card and Ati's nonexistant support
leave me with a nice silicon brick, with a neat Ati fan attached to it.

If you want to build a Pvr, Home Theatre system.. steer as far away
from Markham Ontario as you possibly can.

It is Ati's stated policy that even if the product is a piece of
garbage, they will never give a refund.

I agree 100% and recently decided to give up on ATI. I had another product
that they dropped driver support on and their attitude was huhum...tough
crapola buy the new card.

You think Nvidia is better?
I have a 6800GT and Geforce 3 and they are total crap for everything but
games. Then they are only on par with other cards.
DVD, HDTV, Video, TV out video in..everything is all CRAP. The drivers are
lousy. You don't even get brightness/gamma adjustments in the overlay menus
for movies.
I've had just as many problems over the years with every card maker. It does
not matter who makes them.
So choose which company you want to get ripped off from because they are all
the same imo.

So how many of the video boards you have tested are newer than the ATI?

If the law says they can't make it to record from Dish then that's the way
it is. They can't be held legally liable for obeying the law.

IF the law making them not to put that functionality in their card than why
the **** would you blame ATI for?

It doesn't make sense to me or anyone who has got some brains?
