I have a 2 sheet workbook. If cell 'sheet1 b7' has a certain word typed into
it I want 'sheet2 b2' to return the value in 'sheet 1 b8'. Can I do this? How?
Thanx

Try the following formula in cell B2 of sheet2:

=IF(Sheet1!B7="aCertainWord",Sheet1!B8,"???")

Replace "aCertainWord" with your "certain word".
Replace "???" with what you want in the cell if the condition is not
fulfilled.

Hope this helps / Lars-Åke

In cell B2 on Sheet2, enter,
=IF(Sheet1!B7="XXX",Sheet1!B8,"???")

XXX represents the certain word.
??? represents what B2 should return if the certain word is not found in
Sheet1!B7. To make B2 appear empty if the certain word isn't found, use
=IF(Sheet1!B7="XXX",Sheet1!B8,"")

Hope this helps,

Sample Data:
Sheet 1 B7 a
Sheet 1 B8 b
Sheet 2 B2 formula to be entered
Enter =IF(a="enter the word you are looking for",b8,"") This will give you
the value in B8 if it B7 contains the word you want. If not, it will return
Null or nothing. If you want it to return "Not Found" for example, the
formula would be
=IF(a="enter the word you are looking for",b8,"Not Found")
