If I paste pictures they appear blank in most view, how do I fix?

If I past pictures into a document from anywhere (copy and paste from net for
example) they only appear as a blank square in anything but print view. I
cannot figure out how to fix this. Any ideas I can try?
 
In Tools > Options > View, check the box for "Drawings".
