Hi Bruce,
Try to test Each memory Model individually and see which one will PASS
the
test.
This way you will be able to get accurate reading from the Test.
Take the 1GB Model and test the other two 512 models if they show some
fault
it mean one of them Bad.
Then Test the 1GB and see if it will PASS the Test, by Isolating the
Bad
memory you will Eliminate the Fault and hopefuly that's it no more

the problem. Going to switch the 2 512s, and 1 gigs, if no luck will
take

Hi Bruce,
Try to Disable the Add-Ons on your IE by doing this:
= Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .

Click on General Tab (1st Tab on the left) and you will see a Button called
[ Clear History ..] click on it to clear your History caches, then click on
[Delete Files..] to delete Internet Files created over the time, click on [
Delete Cookies...] to delete your cookies left by visiting websites.

Then try to Disable the Add-Ons on your Browser somehow installed on your
browser, On how to disable the Add-ons follow this:
Click on *Programs Tab* and then click the Manage Add-Ons Button there
Disable
the None/Not Verified Plug-ins/Add-ons ( you can Renable them one-by-one
later and see which is the culprit or you can send them here in your next
post) and click [OK] to confirm your Changes.

Do you have Anti-virus Up2date run it in both safe Mode and Normal Mode and
also scan for malwares on your computer.

Do you have a third party toolbar installed, disable it or uninstall it.
Do you have Acrobat if so uninstall it or update it.
HTH.

What if it shows errors on both 512 and 1 gig? run both 512's then a 1 gig,
got the same problem?

Hi Bruce,
Try to test Each memory Model individually and see which one will PASS the
test.
This way you will be able to get accurate reading from the Test.
Take the 1GB Model and test the other two 512 models if they show some
fault
it mean one of them Bad.
Then Test the 1GB and see if it will PASS the Test, by Isolating the Bad
memory you will Eliminate the Fault and hopefuly that's it no more Fault
and
try to log IN and Out and see the Event Viewer for Errors.
HTH.

HI
I run the memory test, problem it doesn't say whether it will stop
itself. I
let it run 4.5 hrs before I stopped it.
It did show errors? Does this mean one or more of the memory sticks are
bad?
I switched them and reset them , yesterday, run the test today which
showed
the problem. Going to switch the 2 512s, and 1 gigs, if no luck will take
the 1 gigs out, which are the last I bought.
test 3 pass 0 00000100020 1.0MB GOOD 80808080 BAD 80808000 ERRBITS
00000090
COUNT 88, others listed, but doubt need to list them?

Suggestions?

Hi Bruce,
Download this Zip File from the link below and unzip it to a Floppy or
a
CD
whichever you have installed on your PC and Restart your Computer with
it
and
let the test run and note the report, although it will not be 100%
shoetcut
answer to eliminate the Memory as some dust can cause this Error to
Occur:
http://www.memtest.org/

Again check your Event Viewer for any Other Error messages that lead to
a
Hardware failure or Applications failure.
Then try to Reposition and Reseat the Memory stick, but be aware not to
fry
the Motherboard or the memory Stick by your ESD (Electro Static
Discharge)
from your Body, Hold/Put your hand on the case [The metal frame] for 30
Secs
then Hold the Mem from their Ends and push gently to reseat and be sure
the
clip clicked as a sign be fitted firmly in the Slot.

hi
Is there an easy way to check the memory sticks to see? Only thing I
can
think of is switching there positions. I have 2 512's and 2, 1gigs

Checking your Memory Sticks , one may bad causing this or swap their
places
with one another and see.
System Restore to an Earlier date to this may help or start with
system
Repair console with your CD Disk and perform Repair/Reinstall but
back
up
your data first.

Hi Bruce,
1=> Is your computer clean from malwares and viruses?.
Clear your caches and delete of your offline files and cookies.
Scan for malwares from here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php
http://www.safer-networking.org ; for Spybot S&D
Click Start >> Double click Control Pane >> Double Click Network
and
Internet Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE Properties and click on Advanced Tab and scroll down
under
this
option the uncheck it:
[&] Browisng
[ ] Enable third-party browser extensions (requ res) uncheck
this
Click OK and close the IE properties , then Reboot your machine.

2=> Try to run or open the Run Command and type this:
sfc /scannow click [OK] and wait for it to finish and get your
XP
CD
handy to insert it when asked so and Reboot your machine.
Do a defrag to your system in Safe Mode.
Look in the event viewer for any Error Messages (X) by double
clicking
on
them to get more info and send them here in your next post if the
above
didn't help.
P.S Do you have other Toolbars installed on your computer?.
HTH.
Please let us know your result.

Maria,

I was dubious about the idea of bad RAM as the cause of this error
and now seeing that your symptom is identical to the OP's think it would be
incredibly unlikely that you would both have a crash at the same address
due to that issue.

See the first suggestions to the OP to check for malware, etc.
In particular, make sure that you think about what all you installed recently.
This symptom is sometimes caused by getting a regression in the runtime
libraries due to installing third-party programs. E.g. don't think so much
about mal- in the sense of malicious but as in mal- being bad or just plain
broken.

hi

Well, I don't want to jinx myself, past few days been ok.Go th the post on
12/20/06 4:53 Pm
open that clean cache, cookies IE temp files, then go to the manage add-ons,
read about unchecking the not verified plug ins, and try that, like I say so
far, it has worked, though mine is intermittant. I did not uncheck all of
them, once I am sure the problem is solved I will start turning them on.
Though it is new, plug ins still are added in 3 wks, thinking mine was
possibly yahoo, or a iwon one.
