Iexplorer.exe causes a System32 Folder window to open

D

Dannyboy

I have a broadband connection and have no spyware
currently installed. I have lost the ability to enable
Internet-sharing (by using two nics and a hub connection
from the host to the other two computers that are
connected to the hub.) The host is connected directly to
the Cable modem.

I can ping them (the other computers on the home network)
and I can share files across the home network, but I can't
enable internet sharing.
I am using IE6 with the most recent service packs and now
whenever I start to run IExplorer.exe, there is a folder
window for System32 that opens up!

PLease help

Hi Dannyboy,

Before attempting to post this in Networking and Web groups:

Are you able to PING the host from other two computers? I see you have tried it the other way [host to client]. And if you are running XP, disable the ICF in the NIC card which connects to the hub. Caution: Firewall needs to be enabled for the Internet source. Re-run the Network Setup Wizard [for XP]. If you are using a third-party firewall like ZoneAlarm, make sure you add the network computers to trusted zone.

Also, eliminate malware: Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines:
