I am getting the above error with the following when I close down Internet
Explorer 6.0 SP-2:

The instruction at 0x031a3795 referenced at 0x02c9ad68. The memory could
not be "read".

I am running Windows XP Professional.

I have tried Lavasoft Ad-Aware but I get the following error when I run that:

Windows must restart because the DCOM Server Process Launcher Service
terminated unexpectedly.

You might have the W32.Blaster.Worm. Symptoms of this are: If your
computer has been infected, you will see a window appear on your screen
that will have a message similar to "The Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
service terminated unexpectedly." There will be a 60 second countdown
timer in the window. After the timer reaches zero, your computer will
reboot itself.

I am getting the same error (different address) concerning IE6 but not the
Adaware problem on 2 separate computers. In each case the errors only
appeared after downloading and installing the last big batch of Security
Updates from the MS Update site. At first the error involved "IE Acrobate
Helper: iexplore.exe" so I disabled the "Read PDF's in the browser option in
Acrobat Reader 7.00.

All that changed was that the error message now attributed the error to
iexplore.exe alone with no reference to Acrobat. Re-enabling the Acrobat
Helper resulted in the same error message as at first noting both programmes
as being involved.

Both computers are virus and spyware free. Both had no errors until the MS
updates were applied. All other browser functions are okay. This error
however is becoming very annoying.

I am getting the same message since I installed the June MS critical updates.
The message is : Acrobat IEHelper: iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x01884213" referenced memory at
"0x0120ad58".
The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program

I am assuming it came with the Critical updates somehow. I hope MS Fixes it.
