IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff7a388 can anyone help?

Hi,
Can anyone help. I cannot launch Internet Explorer. I get the
following error message window

'This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut
down'

When I click for details I get the following,

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at
0167:bff7a388

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing Explorer (version 6) and
get the same message with whichever version I have.

Done a virus check....nothing showed up.

I've tried several solutions offered with no result including
deleting the password list as suggested by the Microsoft help facility.

I'm using Windows 98 second edition

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Paul

Turn off find-fast in the control panel as this slows
things down: STOP FIND-FAST

Then empty all of your index.dat and TEMP files using
these two free programs:

Automatic Deletion of TIF, TEMP & index.dat files. Delindex

And for all other temp files: EmpTemp

Try tis defrag: PRO-DEFRAG [LITE VERSION]

And these tune-ups:

RAMpage 1.6

AlwaysUnloadDll

Correct a ... possible ... VxD fault in your Win98/98SE

Many users are reporting elimination of VxD faults by
installing VxDs from the Win9x
installation CD.

The VXDs you may need to install are:
configmg.vxd , ntkern.vxd , vcomm.vxd , vdd.vxd ,
vdmad.vxd , vflatd.vxd , vmouse.vxd

LOOK HERE FIRST ... To view the contents of VMM32.VxD run
RegEdit and go to the Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control/VMM32Fi
les
where the right pane shows all the files that comprise
VMM32.VxD

The 7 MISSING VXDs '98 only BSOD-FIX

NOTE: [ATTENTION to VERSION!]
If you have the 7 files on your Win-CD or in your Cabinet
files use these.

If there is still a problem with Explorer.exe extract a
NEW one from the .cab files
and place here: C:\Explorer.exe

If you see an immediate improvement after re-booting then
the old Explorer.exe is
damaged or corrupt, so replace it.

You can then delete C:\Explorer.exe from the DOS prompt if
you want to. (I use a
bootdiskette.)

Thanks for your help Laura, but I tried switching off 'Third Party Browser
Extensions in the Advanced Internet Options and in my case it did work.
Thanks to those who posted that solution. nice one !

You only disable the parasites. Some site will not work correctly if you
leave the 3rd party browser deactivated. Find out who the culprit is.
