Ben

"Open in a New Window" doesn't work and have followed
advice I could find here, including downloading and
running IEFix.exe utility. Sadly its not rectified the
problem. Instruction on IEFix.exe says to reinstall IE if
it doesn't work - how??? can only change from 6 to 5.5
which I've done. Tried to reinstall off Win2000Pro CD too -
nothing. My Registry keys don't seem to match Microsoft

anybody have any clues?

and what is HKLM?
Cheers

Had tried all but installing Office SR-1, which I've now
downloaded and done. Still same prob though. Have Run all
the .dll files mentioned, restarted and no change.

SO to clarify: now IE is ver5.00.2920.0000IS

In Regedit I see one 'key' only:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Interface\{00020400-0000-0000-C000-
000000000046}
Name: (Default)
Value: IDispatch

I don't seem to have any other entries under that key, esp
the ones mentioned in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article -
281679, ie.

ProxyStubClsid
ProxyStubClsid32

???
Cheers.

Do you mean revert to last ver of IE? [-can't uninstall]
have already revert-ed, so I can install update back to 6.

Yeah??

Did you register the DLLs from Administrator account? Modifying the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT requires Admin privileges. Also see the point (4a) in this thread: http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=4912

Yep, in Admin acc. whole time.
Don't have "Enable third-party browser extensions" in "IE
Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>...". Do you know
where to find it? -OS:Win2000

Can I simply use Regedit to add the Keys that appear to be
missing? In which case where might I find the ones?
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 281679 has 3 in HKEY_
LOCAL_MACHINE, of which I have one. BUT you mention
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT below???

about to ready to give up - migrate to Mozilla I guess...

Cheers for help.
