IE7 Cannot access internet

I have two desktop computers behind a wireless router. One, running
WindowsXP, has no trouble accessing the net via IE7. My new computer, running
Vista, is exhibiting odd behavior with IE7. Just after boot, IE7 operates
normally. After about 10 - 15 accesses, however, I can no longer access the
web. (At this point, Windows Mail is also prevented from reaching its mail
servers.) Meanwhile, my old computer, again connected to the same router, is
working fine. I can recover only be rebooting.

On the failing, Vista, computer, all add-ons are disabled and IE settings
are reset.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried right clicking on the Network icon in the lower right corner
and selecting "diagnose and repair?" I am having this problem as of late on
both 32 bit and 64 bit with two different NICS. When I look down and see
the globe disappear from the Network Icon and then do a diagnosis and
repair, this usually fixes the problem.

Wish I knew what was causing this.

Your user name is causing problems with Windows Mail. I had to go to an
archaic newsreader to see which post was not showing. Please don't use =?
Utf-8?B?U0QgMjIgMTk2Ng==?= <SD221966 anymore, but something simple like Bob
or Joe, or even Sue.

thanks.

I'm not adverse to changing my display name, but "Edit my Profile" wouldn't
permit it. Do I have to re-register?

Also, to my actual problem. I've found that if I turn my firewall off,
service is restored. The firewall is from the Computer Associates Internet
Security Suite. Does this help?

Thanks. I am not sure what is causing my intermittent problem, but right
now I have no software firewall up, just a hardware firewall.
