IE6SP2 Add-Ons JavaScript Not Working

I have seen numerous people with this same problem all over the Internet, but
no solution so far. Once we enabled Add-Ons, we set it so that all were
disable except the ones in the approved list. Everything worked fine except
for JavaScript. Any web page that has javascript will not work. The main
problem with this is that we have thousands of faculty and students that use
Outlook Web Access (2003) to check their email. And guess what, it is full
of JavaScript and therefore doesn't work anymore. As soon as we revert back
and completely turn Add-Ons off, JavaScript works fine. All systems are XP
SP2 with firewall disable (we have our own firwall systems) and the latest
updates. We set the Add-Ons by approving anything that was previously used
in the Add-Ons list. This should have set everything to work fine, but like
I said, JavaScript will not work. And yes, we triple checked to make sure we
have the correct CLSIDs for the Add-Ons. Any help would be greatly
appreciated!

I finally found a fix! No thanks to Microsoft. From the add-on manager
add the jscript.dll CSLID. It's
{f414c260-6ac0-11cf-b6d1-00aa00bbbb58}. BTW.. how bad is the add-on
manager in SP2. Can't copy CSLIDs to paste into GPO settings.. what a
joke.

Actually we started working on the problem again this morning and found that
same cslid after doing so registry comparisons. We added it and it solved
all of the javascript problems, EXCEPT for OWA. It still doesn't work. All
of it loads except for the actual message pane. It just says "loading". We
had a meeting to go to this morning so we had to put it on hold. We'll start
looking at registry comparisons again this afternoon. If you find anything
else let us know!

HI

I have just had some support calls reference this very issue, soem of our
users are not getting to see there mail, they just get a blue screen with
loading appear, a quick fix is to delete the temp IE files, but hti scan
become very annoying, another work around is to use firefox which works well,
but I would like to see a soultion to the IE problem.

So, shouldn't it just be a matter of finding a different CLSID
for OWA to add to the list? Perhaps you could use RegMon
to track it down?

a quick fix is to delete the temp IE files,

That doesn't look like the same issue then.
One possibly related factor which this brings to mind is

Do not save encrypted pages to disk

(Options, Advanced tab, Security section)

If that setting is not checked encrypted pages would be saved in the TIF,
opening the possibility that they might be reused, especially if the user's
cache-checking was not Every visit... (Alt-T,O,Alt-S,E)
I can't imagine such an attempt being successful from one transaction
to the next...

Unfortunately, in other contexts the usual advice is to leave this setting
unchecked to avoid other strange symptoms. If the problem cases
are not using Every visit... try making that change first.
