IE6 won't accept cookies

G

Guest

This is the second of two problems. I previously posted about a graphics
printing problem I'm also having with IE6

When I go to a website that requires a login, such as fodors.com, the
website reports that I am not accepting cookies, therefore I cannot login. I
most certainly have IE6 set to accept cookies, and for security I have placed
that website in my trusted site list, so I think security should not be a
problem.

My computer is running Windows XP service pack 2

Can anyone advise me on this?

That's the problem. I already have the privacy slider set to accept all
cookies. But I still get the message from the website saying that "I must
enable cookies"

How can that be when they are already enabled?

HI J Piwaron :)

In addition to Frank's suggestion, you might try the following and see if it
helps. Not sure they might all apply to your problem:

Cookies error WebSite Reports That You Must Enable Cookies
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299331

Q317689 - Error Message Your Browser Is Not Currently Set to Accept Cookies:

Or, do you have another program (privacy, security, ad-blocker,etc.) set to
block cookies? Take a look at programs that run in the background and might
be blocking cookies.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

The good news is that in addition to setting the privacy slider bar to accept
all cookies (where it still didn't accept them), I also added that particular
site to the trusted internet zone, and viola, now it works.

I'll still read through those other pages you've directed me to, since I
think it ought to work without being in the trusted zone.

One other thing Jan, do you have any idea why IE6 wouldn't want to print any
graphic images? That's the other funky thing it's doing. Right click, list
of options, saving the image works, but printing gets no reponse at all.
Printing of pages that are entire text are o.k., no graphics. Graphics
printing works in other programs.

Hi J Piwaron :)

Glad to hear you were able to resolve one of your problems. Good job! :)

As for the images not printing, you might try the following and see if it
will help:

Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab>scroll down to Printing and check the
box next to print background colors and images.
Then click OK

also...

If you have Zone Alarm Pro, you might check this too, as it can block Images
in IE, although, it may not apply to your problem:

1. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Security>Custom level>reset custom
level to Medium or Low

2. Go into IE>Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>set the slider to Medium or Low

3. Go to this site and read on adjusting the Privacy settings in ZA. It will
explain how to customize on a per site basis.

Well, I've tried a the things you suggested, and no joy. Still won't print
the picture. When I say that, I specifially mean when I right click the
image and select print image from the list of options. Nothing happens. The
printer simply doesn't respond.

I just tried print a web page (abcnews.com) and when I had IE print the
whole page, it printed most of the graphics on the page, but not all. Yet,
if I pick a particular image and do the right click, print - nothing.

Is it possible there's a file of some sort, a DLL or EXE that it needs
that's missing? If so, what is it and where would I get another?

Hi J Piwaron :)

I'm not sure this may apply to your problem, but, you might take a look at
it. It might shed some light somewhere.

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced
Uncheck Enable third party browser extentions (requires restart)

Not sure, but, you may also now need to uncheck the box for Print background
and images.

Perhaps they don't want to print it due to copyright?

Is it in the cache? What happens if you set Work Offline
before you try the right-click, Print command?
