IE6 w/XP Popups & Startup

I have 2 problems. The 1st, on startup IE crashes
with "Send Error Report" on the 1st selection made after
IE starts up, 100% of the time. Re-start IE & no more
problems. 2nd problem IE not started but PC connected to
DLC. Walk away from PC come back in 1/2 hour & there are
30 to 40 IE windows open (adds & SW install windows). Any
ideas?

The first thing to do is to scan your system for the possibility of
unknown\unwanted spyware or parasites that may be causing your problem(s).
