IE6 Freezing

I have continuing problems with IE6 freezing/locking up. Running Pentium 3/866 with 40 gig drive (70% empty) on Windows ME over a dial-up line. No viruses or spyware. All temp files removed; all cookies deleted. Scandisk and defrag on an hourly basis, and a cold boot every 2 hrs. Even invested in the diagnostic service PCDocOnCall, but all of the corrections had no impact. Uninstalled and reinstalled SP1 for IE6. I even replaced my memory. Every item in startup has been researched, and only the essential ones are running. Anti-virus is turned off and is run only manually. No networking, or video applications, and IE freezes when it is the only app running from a cold boot. Have run the IE6 repair utility. Video driver is current. The only non-standard situation is that I run both IE and Netscape, but with deleting Netscape, IE still freezes.
1. Any ideas at all?
2. Similar problems have been answered with, "Re-install IE". How??? The only thing in the add/remove programs is the SP1 update (which I have removed and reinstalled). I thought the browser was an itegrated part of ME; if so, how can it be removed?
