IE6 unable to connect to any URL

Here's the problem:

Not matter what site I enter (yahoo, google, cisco, or any
URL) IE comes back and says "Internet Explorer could not
open the search page." After I click ok i see "The page
cannot be displayed" IE tried to go out to
auto.search.msn.com, which is the default.

Can anyone tell me what the problem could be?

With IE open, go to Tools > Options > Advanced. Scroll down to Search. Check
"Just go to the most likely site." Click OK.
