IE6 strange after updates

After updating XP with latest security patches, my IE6 has become strange
when showing Hoover Button and/or Java Script elements such as roll-down
menus etc.

First of all it takes forever before pages with Hoover buttons are fully
loaded.

Secondly, it appears as if all Java elements now needs to be clicked twice
beofre working correctly : first you move mouse over element, the entire
element is "framed" by a "pop-up fram", then after clicking in the frame
area, the element becomes active and behaves normally and first then you may
choose menu items or whatever.

Any suggestions?

Well, that sucks, doesn't it? <eg>

The latest patch for IE changes the way some ActiveX Controls work. This
explains everything to post about, with the possible exception of slow
loading webpages.
