IE6 shuts down when exiting internet browsing

I have IE6 and XP home. I also have Norton antivirus and adaware. Windows is
set for auto updates. Norton also auto updates. I regularly us adaware
(free). Almost every time I finish whatever I am doing online and click off I
get a message stating IE closing down, do you want to report this problem. I
always click yes - get report sent - usually get message stating to check for
viruses, spyware or internet addons. All Windows, Norton and adaware is up to
date. The only spyware I have is Gain because I use Gator. I have used this
for a long time and never had this problem come up until recently. The
toolbars I use are Google, Yahoo and Earthlink. I did download Yahoo fix.
Except for the error message, nothing else seems to be affected. It is
frustrating to constantly have to reply to this message and I don't know what
could be causing it. Please help! Please keep answers as uncomplicated as
possible so that I may understand your directions. Thanks!

AdAware is not enough. No one program is.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?

Hi,
One of your legitimate programs may well be the troublemaker. I've seen (for
example) the AOL toolbar cause this error when closing IE. I would start by
disabling those third-party toolbars and programs (anything that hooks into
IE.)

If one of those programs isn't the culprit, you might have malware that
Ad-aware and Norton didn't find.

See these sites for additional help:
