IE6 shuts down when address box is typed into?

Whenever I type in an address in the adress box IE6 wants to send an error
message to MS and then shuts down. I can go places via favoites or pulling
down past used adresses. Any ideas how I can reinstall or uncorrupt IE6?
I updated to IE7 but it wouldn't run my banking website so had to reinstall 6.

Hi,
Do you have this key in the registry?

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{c90250f3-4d7d-4991-9b69-a5c5bc1c2ae6}
Reference: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2005/12/16/504864.aspx
You should not have this key with IE6.

If you have this key, export it (backup- just in case) and delete it.
If you're not familiar with regedit, please let me know or get help.

Option 2... This may be an autocomplete problem. Turn off autocomplete for
web addresses (Internet Options> Content> Autocomplete) clear the History,
turn autocomplete back on.

Option 3... This may be a malware problem- trojan, hijacker, spyware, etc.

Appreciate the advice. Didn't find the reg key, nor did the autocomplete tip
work. I had used ADaware earlier but it seemed to have caught what was
bothering my adress window.

Thanks

Don you are the man!

For the last 5 days I've had a server 2003 issue when I uninstalled IE7 and
went back IE6. It would just hang, tax the CPU. I installed from IE.inf and
nothing I got in the forums helped..except you.

THANKS A HELL OF A LOT! wow!

I'm going home and having a beer.
