IE6 Search settings

When I installed software for my new ISP (Earthlink), the search
settings in IE6 were changed to use Google. I have tried to customize
to get back to search assistant, but to no avail. How can I get rid
of Google and back to default? Running XP Pro SP2.

Hi pm957 :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

IE &OE search settings overwritten by other ISP software

Go to Start>Run and type in the following, separately. Hit the Enter key
after each one.:
rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear or
rundll32.exe Iedkcs32.dll, BrandCleanInstallStubs

This should restore your search settings. If not then try the following:

In order to restore you default Search functions, download and run the
program below. You will have to redo any customized features you may have
added afterward.
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/RestoreSearch2.REG
or..

Reset Search: IEFix
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/IEFIX.reg
This will restore your default Search functionality. However, if you had
any custom adjustments you have made will have to re-select them.

This will restore the Windows defaults for a whole lot of Search related
registry entries.

CAUTION: BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST!

Close IE, copy the bold to Notepad, save as Search.reg (save as 'all files',
and doubleclick. Answer 'yes' when prompted to add the contents of
Search.reg to the Registry:
