Any type of www. address that I type in the address bar
won't work unless I specify http:// in front of it. It
started doing this in the middle of some regular net
browsing. I checked all the settings, I reinstalled the
internet explorer, I looked on many online forums and I
couldn't find anything helpful. If I won't be able to
solve this problem before it gets really annoying I will
deffinitely switch to Opera.

Check the below Registry entries vs. yours:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPre
fix]
Default="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

Dragos,

AutoCorrect feature can correct common errors. For example, if you
accidentally type "htp://" or "http:\\" instead of "http://," Internet
Explorer 5 and 6 can automatically correct the error as soon as you click Go
or press ENTER.
To turn on the inline AutoComplete feature for Web addresses, follow these
steps in Internet Explorer:

1.. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2.. Click the Advanced tab.
3.. Under Browsing, click the Use inline AutoComplete for Web addresses
check box, and then click OK.

If this does not help, open Registry (regedit.exe) and goto the following
key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPref
ix

In the right-pane, set the data for the value "default" to "http://"
