IE6 or SP2 Error

I just bought a new PC, and upon trying to connect to the internet with IE6,
I received an error which hadme send an error report to Microsoft, and
referred me to download and install SP2, which I have now done twice. The
reason I have done it twice, is because I keep getting the error every time I
get onto the internet....I should be getting it here in a few minutes as a
matter of fact - it's just a matter of time. Now, I've downloaded and
installed SP2 twice, as I said before, however, after looking at the options
online(pop-up blocked, windows center or whatever in my Control Panel, etc),
I don't know that it is actually installing as the wizard says. Does anyone
know why I am actually getting these errors and why IE6 decides it needs to
shutdown? The suggestion is to install SP2, which I think I have done, but
that isn't helping, and it's what it recommends over and over. Thanks for
the help in advance.
