IE6 keeps closing as soon as it opens, except for a few websites.

Jeeks

I have xp pro on my computer and last nite i left the computer up like
usual with only mIRC running and when i woke up this morning my IE6
keeps crashing without any error dialog boxes, all i see is
"connecting to site...." then "error on page" for a second maybe
before it closes down. I can get on a couple of sites (dodgeit.com,
mozilla.org and google). Then i tried to open the built-in web browser
in kazaa lite (which i rarely use) and even that crashes. I tried to
apply a solution suggested on the forums (run gpedit.msc) and even
that gives me an IE script error, wtf i dont even have IE running. I
understand the risks with spyware and all and usually stay on top with
pest patrol, spyware blaster and trend micro internet security
antivirus running 24/7. I tried re-installing IE and it said "damaged
file location please delete cache". After doing so i tried again and
now the installation hangs up by saying "microsoft logo test not
passed and this application wont be installed" and its f*ing IE6 I'm
trying to install. I reboot and then the whole cycle starts again - it
tells me logo test not passed. Now this happened when no one was using
the machine along with my search option in xp displaying a blank
window. I think i found a fix for that problem but it still doesnt
explain why it happened. how can i get my IE back? if u have any tips
on the blank search window problem and why this crap hapened to begin
with please help. thanks
