IE6 Freezes after entering URL and pressing the return key

Hi,

I have encountered a bizarre problem for which I can find
nothing in the way of an answer in either the Knowledge
base or in these forums.

Two days ago IE started freezing if I entered a URL in the
address bar followed by pressing the return key. Basically
the whole window freezes and after about 10 seconds or so
the "this program is not responding" dialogue box appears.
I "end now" and load it up again and all is fine..until I
enter a URL and press return.

It does seem however that if I use the "Go" button on the
toolbar, there is no problem.

This is really bugging me and I wondered if anyone else
had come across this. I have Win2k SP4 plus all updates
currently available.

Thanks

Andrew

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
