Hi: I'm running IE8 v.8.0.6001.18702IS, 128 bit on my PC. Why do I still find
Contents and History files related to IE5 under Documents and Settings and
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32. Several of these folders seems to be copies. Can I
safely remove them?
Thanks for your help, Fred

From what I've read:

No, do not remove them; they are part of the old IE version used in IE8.
There are pieces of code from IE5 (and 6) in IE8 and for whatever reason,
the authors didn't spend any time on getting rid of seemingly bad
references. You'll even see such references on the screen now and then but I
forget the circumstances under which I saw them, it was so long ago. I also
can't find the references to information about same anymore or I'd provide a
link for you. Apparently just another occurrence of Microsoft's lack of
consideration for its users and/or a result of the growing laziness so
rampant there.
