ie windows getting smaller

While ie is loading, the screen is fullsize but when it
finishes loading the window becomes smaller. It doesn't
minimize it, just makes the size of the window smaller.
It does this for various websites but not all the time.
What is causing this. I have the newest IE and SP.

Open such a window.
Don't use the maximize button.
Stretch the edges/corners so that the window fills the screen.
Close all other IE windows.
Close the stretched window.
