Nothing happens when I try to open IE. I get a standard "would you like to report the problem to Microsoft" dialog box. Can I overwrite my existing IE with a current download (but how could I do that if I can's access the web?). If I can, how can I save my settings and such?
Thanks, Dougie

Hi,
From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions."

That should allow IE to work. Then Run CWShredder from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html CWShredder targets only
one family of parasite, but it's a good first step. CWShredder is only about
125 KB so it could be
downloaded from another machine onto a floppy disk if necessary.

You might also be able to browse and download programs from the address bar
of windows explorer.

Search for and remove other malware and note the security tips at:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:

More useful information at:
The Parasite Fight http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm
Bugs, Glitches & Stuffups: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.
