IE web address bar missing

For some reason I've lost my direct web access bar, along
with sites visited history. I'm not sure but this may be
due to an automatic update when I was on the internet.
Now I am forced to access the internet through Google or
MSN Search search bars. This requires I sift through the
search results to find the original webb address I typed
in.

Settings under Tools/Internet Options look the same as
before this happened.

How do I get my direct web access address bar & history
back? Please help!

Put your mouse pointer over a blank area on the menu bar at the top of the
Internet Exploerer window (next to "Help", for example) and right-click to
get a list of menu bar items. Make sure that "Address Bar" is checked.

at the top of the
went back to the menu bar items list & unchecked the Lock
the Toolbars. The Address button became clickable & my
Address Pane was restored. I then clcked Lock the
Toolbars. Thanks for your suggestion Reed, it gave me
direction to help solve the problem!
