I'd recommend Mozilla over Firefox. Firefox is still in 0.9 release.

Mozilla is a combination of browser, email, and usenet client. Firefox
is only the browser. It's at version 0.9 because they have a few more
features to add, not because there's any lack of function. It already
has quite a few functions that IE does not.

That's true, but it also has a more limited sidebar function than Mozilla.

And it's become popular enough that there is now a virus written for it.

Really? What Mozilla/Firefox virus would this be?

There was an announcement of a weakness in Mozilla (a protocol that
might allow running a program on the client machine). There has been a
patch available at the Firefox site for several days now for the older
versions, and a new complete version (0.9.2) is available that
incorporates the fix. I assume the other Mozilla products have been
treated similarly.

1. It's not a virus.
2. It's not a Mozilla security hole per se: it's a Windows security
hole, and applies equally to Word (and, presumably, IE). It doesn't
happen on Mozilla on other operating systems.

Unfortunately the Mozilla folks were crazy enough to pass unknown URLs
to Windows and expect Windows not to have security holes. It's far
more scary to me that you can open a Word document and have it run
random programs off your hard drive using exactly the same Windows
security hole.
