Have you got anti-virus software installed on your PC, if
you have, you need to do a scan of your PC. If not there
is a program called Stinger on www.nai.com (McAfee).
Download and run this, it doesn't pick up all virus' but
it does the most common ones.

Hi C M,

We can try 2 things at this point to resolve this issue.
This condition is caused by a mismatched DLL for the file "MSHTML.dll".

First lets do the easiest solution and test for success. If this fails,
then we will move to STEP 2.

STEP 1.
Since IE is now so integrated into the browser there is a specific DLL that
has not been correctly
registered in either Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer.

This is how we fix this.

Action Plan
**********
1. open "wordpad"
2. copy this text (below) into the "wordpad"
3. save the "wordpad" file as "IEreg.bat" to your desktop and then "double
click" to launch

STEP 2.
If step 1 is tested and fails then we must attempt this process.

1. in "windows Explorer" goto "Tools" at the top of the Window.
2. goto "folder options".
3. goto "view" tab at the top
4. ensure that "show hidden files and folders" is checked in the box
5. make sure that there is NO check mark in the box for "hide extensions
for known file types" and "hide protected
operating system files".

6. if we can locate a machine that has the working IE, locate the
MShtml.dll and copy it to the non-working machine.
It will get copied to 2 locations.
7. copy the fresh copy of "MSHTML.dll" into a folder called "DLLcache"
(c:\windows\LastGood\System32) and also a
copy of this file to C:\windows\system32.
7. reboot and test

Thanks for this post. I was having the same problem but with
shdocvw.dll:

Error signature

Appname: iexplore.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: shdocvw.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2800.1106
Offset: 0001547a

First the "send error report" box would come up then the "error
signature" box.

I re-registered the dll's with the batch file you wrote. The program
is working now, no more error signature boxes, but the "send error
report" kept coming up so I just disabled the error message. (Control
Panel/System/Advanced.) Something is probably still not right but
everything seems to be working. I'll re-post if other problems come
up.
