IE stops suddenly

When ever i click on the IE icon on my desktop it starts
to load then suddenly it stops and goes back to desktop,
also when i defrag, the defragmenter stops responding for
about 1-3 min then starts up again. Any reason for this?
I've scanned my computer in safe mode with norton av
program but it shows no virus or any infection of files.
Any info on this is appreciated. Kenneth

It's not the problem in IE or other programs it is in
windows explorer.Explorer.exe suddenly takes too much
memory.I don't know the solution anyways
