Lori

I get a script error whenever I try to print from
Internet Explorer, or even from my Outlook Express now.

I have been to my computer manufacturer's support dept.
and they have had me try just about everything in the
book, including dowloading and using Netscape (and I
don't have the problem with Netscape!).

But the problem remains. I have removed, and reinstalled
and even downloaded another copy of IE but to no avail.

Has anyone got any ideas. The fixes on the Knowledge
Base were a joke - blaming it on the printer driver and
then giving me instructions to do things in Properties
that weren't even options. HELP!!!!

I am ready to switch over to Netscape completely if
someone can't help soon.

Thanks,
Lori (in beautiful, rainy Washington State)

And the script error is...?

Your Windows version is...?

Try, in order:

1. (Re-)Installing 5.6 Scripting Engine from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

(WinXP users who have problems with 2a and 2b, see
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm)

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

4a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

4b. Find the hijacker that caused 4a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):

Dealing with Hijackware
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm#tshoot
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post
your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**

I am running Windows XP and didn't download anything
except the automatic updates, nor had I recently
installed any new software. Just started having this
problem one day, out of the blue, you might say.

***
This problem is addressed in the Knowledge Base article
#303486, but the resolution doesn't work for me as it
refers to options in the printer properties that I don't
have.

I will try your fixes - as soon as I can cut and paste
them to a word doc as that is the only way I can print
them from here.
Will let you know if this worked and THANKS!

PA Bear,

P.S. What are all the initials behind your name in
