IE Slowdown after installing latest W2K security patches

I recently downloaded the latest four W2K security
patches - KB823182, KB826232, KB825119, KB828035 and since
that time my dialup internet connection has become nearly
unuseable due to a tremendous slowdown in performance. I'm
currently running a Dell with a 1.8 Gig processor, Service
Pack 3 and IE6. The modem is still showing a 28.8
connection speed, but screens often take several minutes
to load, and sometimes images are only partially complete
or missing entirely. Even cached web pages like Yahoo take
abnormally long to load. Another thing that changed is
when clicking on links, what previously only required one
click may now require multiple clicks to activate. I tried
uninstalling the above security patches but it did not
help. My other pc (W98)using the same external modem
connected to my ISP is actually running circles around my
Dell. I performed several virus checks on my machine and
everything is clean. The performance of my machine when
using all other software hasn't changed - the problems are
strictly with Internet Explorer.

Try this:

1: Un-install TCP/IP after making a note of all the
network settings

2: Re-boot

3: Re-install TCP/IP and adjust network settings.

4: Re-boot

This is a standard fix for slow network performance,
inlcuding Internet access, after upgrading to Win2K SP4.
