IE slow to load

I'm running IE 6 with SP1 and all updates done, no viruses and ad-aware
saying the system is clean, but IE is EXTREMELY slow to load (3 min., I
timed it). This is a real hassle when the browser opens a new window. It
sometimes won't open a new window at all. It's become useless (it won't open
the Microsoft Knowledge Base, for example). Looking in Windows Task Manager
shows IE running and no CPU usage.

I have the same problem. Brand new machine, XP Pro SP1a with all updates

The web page seems to be downloaded to the machine but, even though 'Done' is on the status bar, the page is not displayed . In many instances when I click on the Refresh icon the page is correctly reloaded. To view the Windows Update page I always have to click on Refresh

I fixed my problem on one machine by deactivating Ad-watch (from Ad-aware).
On my other machine, I'm getting a javascript error whenever I click on a
link that opens a new window. I reset the security level to the default
(medium) and the problem is still there. Would changing your security level
help?
