IE SHUTS DOWN...HELP!

There are several instances when I click on a link and instead of getting to the site, IE just closes?? In particular, a chat room that I need to get into on Monday evenings. It's a safe environment and I can't understand why this is happening. CAN ANYONE HELP?
 
Run a spyware program, the same thing happened to me.
Use spybot ad-aware, bulletproof
