IE Shutdown

BlankFor the past day or so, everytime I go into my control panel, Internet
Explorer says an internal error has occurred and it has to shut down... It
then restarts again and runs fine, except some of the icons in the taskbar
are missing. What could be causing this?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Helen,

Since we are not there to see all this, please clarify more for us. Does this only happen if you go into Control Panel?
If it happens again, can you write down the whole message text, and post it back here?

I tend to think it is Windows Explorer that is the one referred to, and not Internet Explorer.

I'd suggest running XP's System File Checker. Place your XP CD in the CDROM drive. (If setup pops-up just close (exit) that window).
From XP menus, select "Command Prompt". (or from Run menu, type
CMD <enter>

in the command prompt window type
SFC /SCANNOW <enter>

That would get System File Checker running, and recheck your versions of Windows system files

Hopefully that would solve your problem.
