Hi All,

Whenever I click the Search icon on the IE toolbar in Win
XP, I get the message "Internet Explorer has encountered
a problem and needs to close." A box comes up for sending
the error report to MS. I close the box and my browser
closes. Normally I use Google for search and have had a
problem with it recently. The first time I click a link
for it in my Favorties I get only a blank browser window
showing the address to the last web page and I have to
repeat clicking on the Google link for it to load. Any
help appreciated. TIA

Get spyware scanner like Ad-Aware or spybot. Also check for viruses.

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
