IE problem, saving GIF or JPG pictures

Everytime I try to save a GIF or JPG format picture using IE, the name is deleted and I am only allowed to save as a BMP, which removes animations and increases the file size. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening?

Clear your temporary internet files folder from within IE.
