IE pages suddenly gray background?

This I do not get. Over the past couple of days, many pages inside IE7, and
Outlook 2003, have appeared with a gray background. Makes no sense.

Emails appear with a gray background. Web pages, formerly white, now have a
gray background. -- If I bring the same page up in Firefox, the page
correctly appears white.

Anyone heard of this? How is that fixed?
 
Not a bad guess .. but that's not it. I just flipped through a bunch of
possibilities in there .. changing themes .. nope.

I just don't get it. Anyone?
