received Outlook messages suddenly all have gray background . Help

Hope someone here has had the same problem.
-My outlook messages , from others, are all coming wtih gray background
making them illegible if I print.
-Suddenly, If I choose HTML as my default format MY messages get sent out as
gray background. I am now forced to use Richt Text format. This is new change
-my Outlook now appears with a overall appearance. No the blue it used to
have. Is this related to my issue of a gray background to messages?

What controls this. I and IT professional have looked everywere and cannot
find how to fix. Maddeing.
Where are the settings for this?(they are NOT in Tools; Options: mail format)
