IE or MSN problem

In IE and MSN I get messages where the ads used to be saying "Internet
Explorer was unable to link to the web page you requested" or "Web page
unavailabe offline" (even tho I am connected!) I also can't open any game
rooms in MSN or Pogo. I run AD-Aware and have Webroot Spy Sweeper for MSN
running. Please help!

Hi Tammy :)

You don't mention which version of Windows you are using, so I can only
provide general information. Sites such as MSN, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. should
be treated the same as a secure site. You might try the following and see if
it helps:

Can't connect to MSN Messenger
http://help.msn-int.com/EN_US/HelpW...S_Text=For+help+on+signing+in,+click+a+topic:

also..

Any firewall program you use can block out sites and their cookies (which
some sites require for using their stuff).

If you have Zone Alarm Pro, go to the "Privacy Tab", Main, Options and open
the Site List. You will find a number of sites that have various "cookie
controls" blocked. Unblock those on the sites you are getting the red X's.
However, this will allow 3rd party cookies and some other things you may not
want, but, it should eliminate the problem. SpyBot will block cookies for
things such as Avenue A, etc.

Other possibilities here:

Hope this helps :)

That may be a sign of inappropriate entries in your HOSTS file.
Try renaming or deleting your HOSTS file to see if your symptom
changes. Alternatively edit it to delete or comment out the undesirable
entries.

Hello and thank you for the response, however, I am a bit of a novice at this
and am not sure how I go about changing a HOST file. Can someone please
"walk" me through this. Thank you.

Hi Tammy :)

Check the information below on how to use and edit your HOSTS file:

How to check Hosts file

Windows/host (it will not have an extension, and if there is more than one,
choose the one that says Application in a column to the right) . Right click
on it and select Open with.....when the window opens, scroll down the list
to Notepad. Once it opens in Notepad, scroll down the list to see if that
site is in the list. If so, DO NOT delete it, just go to the very front of
the line to the left and enter # in front of the line so that it looks
similar to the one below, as the entries with # in front will be ignored.

# Entries with other comments are searchable via Google.

Then click the save button and close. Then try the site again.
