IE Opens to White page

I'm using Windows XP Home and IE Explorer 6.0.2800 (MSN is my home page) on
a Gateway computer with dial-up modem.

Lately, when I open the browser, I often (very often) get a white page with
the following message displayed: "y.msn.com/'>here." Usually, if I hit the
"refresh" button, the home page will load properly.

Sometimes, however, it takes a LONG time to do so.

Any ideas as to what the problem is and a fix?

Thanks in advance.

I've had the same problem for months and have not yet
found a solution. I use "http://my.msn.com/" as my home
page. I get "y.msn.com/'>here." whenever I start up my
browser for the first time or after a few hours if the
computer is on. Refresh always solves the problem. I
have contacted MSN support on two occasions. I have
followed the suggested course of action both times which
was to delete all temporary internet files, cookies,
reducing the size of disk space available for temporary
internet files, etc. to no avail. Other posts have
suggested that spyware may be a culprit. This is not the
case either. MSN staff need to take this to tier 2
support. I have seen many posts on this with no workable
solutions. This occurs at my home computer, the work
computer (when I set it to my msn homepage), and a friend
of mine has the same problem with her msn homepage. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Like you, I have tried ALL of those suggested remedies with no success in
alleviating the problem. Someone told me that I needed to delete the
History folder and "index.dat". I tried to do that, with no success. I can
supposedly delete "history" files, but the "index.dat" is another matter.

I believe that there is an inherent flaw in the "y.my.msn.com" home page
setup, and Microsoft either is not aware of it or refuses to address it.

The spyware removal tool AdAware as recently added 'about blank' to its
excludes, not sure why, maybe because of what you are now reporting?
About blank is a white page when selected as your home page, you say spyware
is not the problem, have you tried Adaware?
Check for updates after downloading, then
run it, remove all red items.

I have installed and run both Spybot Search & Destroy and
Ad-aware 6 with no impact on this problem. I think it
has something to do with my.msn.com, maybe with the
automatic Passport sign in when the page is being loaded.
